S-300 problem between Russia and Iran is going on. In spite of all insistence of Iran Russia doesn’t deliver S-300 to this country. Uncertainty in the positions of the parties in regard to the matter is continuing. However, Russia before explaining the problem just by technical reasons, has now added among the reasons a possibility of increase of confrontation and tension in the region.

In general, the cooperation in the military field, one of the most important fields in the strategic relations between Russia and Iran, is mainly consisting of weapon selling of Russia to Iran. Selling the weapon Russia is both stimulating military strengthening of Iran, and gaining a large economical benefit. By the suppositions, Iran the third important weapon customer of Russia after China and India. And for Iran Russia is considered the most important weapon seller. In this cooperation process Russia sells to Iran mainly armored technical equipment, war-plane and air defense systems. And recently the main subject of the cooperation in this field is a matter of selling of Russia S-300 missile complex to Iran. It is known that Russia agreed in 2007 to sell 20 set of S-300 missile complex to Iran. Though this news, first rejected by the Russian officials affirmed then, the delivery of the complexes to Iran are delaying by different reasons. It is supposed that the USA and Israel factor has an influence upon this delay process.

Thus the military experts draw attention to capability of S-300 missiles’ perfected versions to hit enemy planes on 27 km height and 150 km distance. It is noted that this missile complexes, each having a capability to aim at target 6 war-planes at the same time, will strengthen strongly the air-defense system of Iran, and in this context will give the important advantages in defense of Iran from surprise attacks of the USA and Israel. Taking into consideration just it, the official Washington and Tel-Aviv held the negotiations with Moscow to cause Russia to change this mind. And Russia tries to use this process especially to get some concessions from the USA.
